Stone Oak, Texas
Metal costs more up front and outlives two or three shingle roofs. Whether that math works for your Stone Oak house depends on how long you are staying, what your insurer allows for impact resistance, and which system gets installed. We will walk you through all three before you commit.
No obligation. No pressure. Most inspections booked within 48 hours.

If you are here, one of these is probably true
Exposed-fastener panel over an unvented deck with no clips costs a fraction of a standing seam system and behaves nothing like it. The word “metal” on a bid tells you almost nothing — the panel profile and the attachment method do.
Panels expand and contract with every hot afternoon. A system fastened straight through the panel instead of on concealed clips works those holes loose over years, which is why so many exposed-fastener roofs leak at the screws long before the metal fails.
A Stone Oak home built in 1999 is on a 27-year-old roof. Across this area thousands of original roofs came due within a few years of one another.
Most subdivisions here constrain what can go back on the roof. Installing outside the approved list is a redo at somebody’s expense — make sure it is not yours.
Repeated moderate hail on the far North Side damages the mat without visibly cracking shingles. It is the damage most often missed from the ground and most often denied on a claim.
Steeper elevations catch wind the rest of the city does not. Ridge and hip detail takes the brunt of it.
Metal fails at the fasteners and the details, not the panel. Clips, closures and flashing decide whether you get forty years or fifteen — so those are the lines we put in writing.

Hands down the best ever service I have ever experienced with a San Antonio business! Mike was excellent! Mike explained the process of repair on my roof, followed up with an email addressing who would do the repairs and 3 days later a technician showed up!

Hail country
Stone Oak is on the far North Side, where spring supercells regularly clip the ridge lines. The 12 April 2016 hailstorm — the costliest in Texas history at roughly $1.4 billion, with stones to four and a half inches — reshaped the roofing picture across the whole metro, and this part of town has taken repeated smaller events since, including the hail that came through with the April 2024 cold front. Repeated moderate hail does not always break a shingle outright; it bruises the mat and shortens the life of the roof quietly.

Our process
Four steps, the same way every time — so you always know what happens next.
STEP 1
Standing seam or exposed fastener, and the honest answer on whether metal earns its cost given how long you plan to stay in the house.
→ A free inspection and a straight answer
STEP 2
Metal is unforgiving of a wavy deck — every plane telegraphs through the panel. We correct the substrate before anything is ordered.
→ BuildSA permit pulled and HOA colour rules checked first
STEP 3
Panels cut to your roof so runs are continuous, with profile, gauge and finish confirmed with you in writing before fabrication.
→ Cleaned up and magnet-swept before we leave
STEP 4
Clips, closures, valleys and penetrations detailed to allow thermal movement — the details that decide whether a metal roof lasts 40 years.
→ We walk the finished roof with you
On the ground
Every part of this metro has its own failure pattern. These are the ones that come up again and again on this side of town.
1990s–2000s master-planned stock with original roofs now at or past end of life
HOA architectural rules constraining colour and material choice in most subdivisions
Steeper elevations and ridge-line wind exposure on the northern edge
Repeated moderate hail bruising mats without visibly breaking shingles

Serving Stone Oak
Stone Oak sits in Bexar County, and we work across ZIP codes 78258, 78259, 78260. Our crews are in Stone Oak regularly — we are a San Antonio company, not an out-of-state outfit that showed up after the last hail event.
Stone Oak is largely 1990s and 2000s master-planned housing, so a very large share of its original roofs are now at or past the end of their expected life — and most of the neighbourhoods here have HOA architectural rules on colour and material.
We regularly work in Sonterra, Encino Park, Rogers Ranch, The Summit, Stone Oak Park area, Canyon Springs and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Permits & inspections
Stone Oak is inside San Antonio city limits, so re-roofs are permitted by the City of San Antonio Development Services Department through the BuildSA portal. The roofing contractor — not the homeowner — is required to hold City registration, which includes a criminal background check, and the permit has to be on site for the final inspection. A like-for-like re-roof does not need stamped plans.

We pull the permit and schedule the inspections as part of the job — you do not need to deal with the city.
Before you call anyone
Over a solid deck with underlayment — which is how we install it — the difference is far smaller than people expect and much quieter than metal over open purlins on a barn, which is where the reputation comes from.

It can, if the system carries a Class 4 impact rating and your carrier offers the discount. Texas insurers commonly do, but the amount varies. Ask for the discount in writing from your carrier before you count it toward the cost.
Most Stone Oak inspections are booked within 48 hours. Emergency and storm response is available 24/7 — if water is actively coming into the house, call (210) 896-3209 rather than filling in the form.
Yes. We document every impact point with photographs, meet your adjuster on the roof, and scope the repair or replacement to what the claim actually covers. Storm work is a large part of what we do in this market.
At Bondoc Roofing, we only hire fully trained, licensed, and insured roofing contractors, so you can rest assured that your roof repairs are being handled by experts. Our roofing technicians will arrive on time, ready to assess your roof, and plan on working on it as soon as possible.
Many neighbourhoods here have architectural rules covering shingle colour and material, and some require approval before work starts. We will tell you whether yours does and work to the approved colour list — it is a common reason a roof has to be redone at the contractor’s expense.
Texas policies generally give you a limited window from the date of loss, and the exact deadline is in your policy — not something a roofer should guess at. The practical advice is not to wait: the longer the gap between the storm and the inspection, the harder the claim is to substantiate.
Roofing runs year-round here. The busiest stretch is the weeks after a spring hail event, when every crew in the metro is booked and out-of-state crews arrive. Late autumn and winter usually mean shorter lead times and the same workmanship.
Next step
No obligation, no pressure, and no push toward a replacement you do not need. If a repair is the right call, that is what we will quote.
